An independent video game or indie game is a video game typically created by individuals or smaller development teams without the financial and technical support of a large game publisher, in contrast to most “AAA” (triple-A) games .

There are a handful of reasons why video games take a long time to make. One of the reasons is that they require a lot of money, talented staff and resources to make a game . Unless the developer confirms that the game’s cancelled, this means that’s they are basically having hell developing the game .
The main reasons indie games fail are over saturation and the lack of marketing. The indie gaming scene has grown exponentially with new games coming out every day. With so many games to choose from it is hard to stand out without a unique selling point.

Indie games are not a get-rich-quick scheme. If you feel like you need to make games , or even that they interest you on a deep level, it’s probably worth taking a stab at it. But if your main goal is to make a steady living, definitely look elsewhere.
